
MINI-MUSIC: TRC's Early
Childhood Music Programs for the Summer
Six 45-Minute Classes: July 7 - August 15, 2009 -

Mini-Music is the perfect place to start your
child's musical education. Offered as a special six-week mini-session during the
summer, the Mini-Music program provides a gentle, joyful experience structured
to meet the unique developmental needs of our youngest musicians.
FAMILY MUSIC FOR BABIES (newborn - 16
mos.)
Family Music for Babies incorporates songs, games, dancing,
moving and singing into a non-stressful, non-judgmental musical playtime.
TUESDAY 9AM and WEDNESDAY 8:30AM
FAMILY MUSIC FOR TODDLERS (16 mos. -
age 3)
Family Music for Toddlers stresses rote imitation of tonal and rhythmic
patterns and develops creativity through singing, moving, dancing, listening and
playing simple instruments.
TUESDAY 10AM, WEDNESDAY 9:30AM, SATURDAY 9AM and 10AM
CYCLE OF SEASONS (ages 3 - 5 years)
Cycle of Seasons teaches rhythmic and tonal patterning to create the
building blocks for musical notation through singing, focused listening and
exploring musical instruments. Self-expression is taught through creative
movement and storytelling.
TUESDAY 11AM, WEDNESDAY 10:30AM, SATURDAY 11AM and 12:30PM
MUSIC MAKERS (ages 4 - 6 years*)
Music Makers builds symbolic thinking, concentration and musical
language. The program includes singing, solfege, creative and structured
movement, playing instruments, ear training and guided listening to develop
initial music literacy.
*Pre-schoolers must have a minimum of one semester of Cycle
of Seasons or equivalent program.
TUESDAY 10AM and SATURDAY 1PM
Note: Additional classes may be scheduled
depending upon enrollment.
Early Childhood Music Program Fees:

MINI-DANCE: TRC's Early
Childhood Dance Programs for the Summer
Six 45-Minute Classes: July 7 - August 15, 2009 -
(other days and times may be available)
Mini-Dance is the perfect place to introduce your
child to the magical world of ballet. Offered as a special six-week mini-session during the
summer, the Mini-Dance program provides your child with a wonderful opportunity
to explore: movement to music: in a safe, non-competitive environment.
TWINKLING STARS (movement to music for 3
year olds)
Twinkling Stars will learn basic positions of the feet,
porte de bras or arm movements, as well as simple jumps on two feet, gallops, skips and gentle
stretching. They will also learn to use dance as a way of telling a story, while learning to relate
to musical rhythms. By learning simple pre-ballet movements your child will begin to explore movement
as a way of self-expression.
THURSDAY 9AM and SATURDAY 2:30PM
BALLET BUNNIES (pre-ballet for 4-5 year
olds)
Ballet Bunnies will study the various positions of their feet and arms, and will begin to work
at the barre. Plies, piques and passes will be introduced along with the correct terminology for each
step. Children will learn transfer of weight, jumping on one foot, and the technique of turning called
"spotting." Free movement and storytelling through dance will be used to encourage self-expression.
THURSDAY 10AM and SATURDAY 3:30PM
DANCING DOLLS (intro to ballet for 5-6 year olds*)
In Dancing Dolls, we focus on perfecting the first two positions of the feet and gradually
add a third. Your child will learn combinations of steps at the barre (including plies, tendues, piques
and grand battements), the first turn, proper jumping techniques, more complex jumps, and the waltz step.
Of course, our dancing dolls will continue to be encourage to listen to and "feel" the music as
they dance.
*Pre-schoolers must have a minimum of one semester of Ballet Bunnies
or equivalent program.
THURSDAY 11AM and SATURDAY 4:30PM

Ridgewood Conservatorys introduction to learning a new instrument allows
students to "try an instrument on for size" before taking private lessons or
starting a school music program.
The perfect
choice for students of all ages.
Designed to maximize the success (and minimize the frustration!) of
learning a new instrument, our Try An Instrument program is a great way for
children, teens and adults to explore a musical instrument or vocal lessons
without making a long-term commitment to study. The program helps you to:
Find out if a younger child is
ready for private instrument instruction.
Let beginners explore more than
one instrument before choosing one to study.
Provide student-musicians with
the opportunity to try other instruments of interest.
Get a jump-start on learning to
play an instrument before continuing with private lessons.

three 30-minute private lessons given on consecutive days...
Try An Instrument students become familiar with their instruments as they
learn to
play two or three simple tunes in a non-competitive environment.

TRCs Vocal Performance for Musical Theater program is not
only the
right place to learn how to sing, its the place to become a special
star!
This program offers performance-oriented vocal training to
children, teens and adults both amateurs and professionals with emphasis in
the American Musical Theater traditions and performance techniques for the
singing actor. Young performers will learn to "take the stage" and "tell the
story." More advanced performers and professionals will perfect their vocal
technique and expand their on-stage skills. Our Musical Theater program enables
students to grow and develop in the studio, in school performances, and in
professional level work through voice building and dramatic coaching:
Voice building with diaphragmatic
breathing, expressive use and understanding of vocal phrasing and musical values

PRIVATE ACTING
INSTRUCTION*

Private acting lessons allow the
student-actor to focus on individual skills, prepare for auditions, explore
various acting techniques, and/or receive one-on-one coaching for an upcoming
performance in school, local or professional theater productions. Vocalists will
learn to "act the part" on stage.
Fees for private Vocal Performance and Acting Instruction:
30-minute lessons ... $42.60/lesson
45-minute lessons ... $63.90/lesson
60-minute lessons ... $85.20/lesson
* Private Vocal
Performance and Acting Instruction is
available for ages 8 years - adult.
Due to the varied vacation
schedules of both students and teachers, students may select nonconsecutive
weeks for private instruction during the summer. Lesson times may vary weekly.

PAYMENT
Payment in full must accompany registration. Tuition will be refunded if
scheduled times do not meet your needs. Once confirmed,
tuition fees are not refundable.
CANCELLATIONS
Private or group lessons cancelled by summer students will not
be rescheduled.
All TRC instructors are professional musicians currently performing in the
metropolitan area. In the event that a teacher is unable to be present due to
performance responsibilities, the session will be rescheduled for another date
during the summer or will be covered by another equally qualified instructor at
the scheduled day and time.
